Our November meeting will be a Legacy Family Tree webinar entitled “Genealogy Gifts and Games” by Janice Nickerson. Join us in the Conference Room at the Parker Library on Saturday, November 21st at 1:30 p.m. for this presentation. Learn ways to share your research findings in fun ways with your family. After the webinar, we will make complimentary photo frame ornaments! If you would like to participate, bring one or several photos that have ancestor head shots. Make sure these are copies, not originals, because we will cut out a 2″ circle from the photo and insert it into a clear lucite round ornament and tie with a red ribbon for you to keep or give as a gift!
The 250 America Celebration at the Pollywog Station Lavender Farm on Hilltop Road in July was a smashing success! The Parker Genealogical Society offered “Find Your Roots mini sessions” and shared the research we had done on the William H. Reynolds family that homesteaded on the property in the 1880’s. Here’s a photo of our table at the event.

At our May meeting, member Ron Springsteen shared the story about his cousin, Gordon Springsteen, in his presentation “Gone But Not Forgotten”. He talked about the “Forever Promise Project” through which the graves of American WWII soldiers who died in the Netherlands are lovingly cared for by the families who live there. Did you catch the Sons of the American Revolution at Parker Days? They gave a wonderful program about the role of fifers and drummers in the American Revolutionary War. Our April program featured them as well when they gave a presentation entitled “Hands On History: America 250 Years Ago”. We learned about the grievances which led to the Bill of Rights and about the tensions in communities and families over taking sides, Loyalist or Patriot.

A new Secretary and a new Treasurer were elected to the Board in March 2026. Welcome Carole Taylor and Ron Springsteen! And a big thank you for stepping up to serve our society!
In the first quarter of 2026, members of our group performed genealogical research on the William H. Reynolds family who homesteaded in Parker in the 1880’s. This was a special project that we were invited to participate in. It was a pleasure to provide the current owner of the homestead with information about the family that lived there over 100 years ago!
